The Masters Of The Universe movie at Amazon MGM Studios has found its Evil-Lyn. Alison Brie has been cast in the upcoming film as the villain Evil-Lyn. The actress joins Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes in the adaptation of the toy brand. Galitzine leads the cast as He-Man, while Mendes plays Teela, Prince Adam’s protector and Eternia’s Captain. Travis Knight is directing the film, which has been in different stages of development for nearly twenty years.
No plot details are available, but it’s safe to guess that they’re similar to the classic cartoons. Prince Adam of Eternia has the Power Sword, which turns him into the musclebound He-Man and gets superhuman strength and abilities. He and his friends defend Eternia from the evil Skeletor, his armies, and his minions. Evil-Lyn is Skeletor’s second-in-command and uses magic to practice the dark arts. The character was portrayed by Meg Foster in the campy, yet endlessly entertaining 1987 live-action movie.
The script comes from Chris Butler, following drafts written by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee. Mattel Flims is producing the feature for a release in theaters on June 5th, 2026.
Who Is Alison Brie?
Brie is known for her roles on TV on shows like Community, GLOW, and Mad Men. She’s recently starred in the film Somebody That I Used To Know, which she co-wrote, and executive produced with her husband, Dave Franco. She also appeared in Promising Young Woman.
That gives the film ample time for a lengthy shoot and post-production. Mattel’s toy line started in 1982 and became a pop culture juggernaut in 1983 with the animated series. It’s been a long time coming for a new Masters film. It might have traded hands between studios more than any other film; moving from Sony to Netflix and finally landing with Amazon MGM.
Mattel Flims is busy mining the rest of their IP and contemplating other shows and movies based on classic games and toys like American Girl, Hot Wheels, Bob the Builder, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox, Major Matt Mason, Polly Pocket, Barney, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Thomas & Friends, UNO, View-Master, and Wishbone.
