Fall and winter trailers begin to drop and we get our first look at our sequel to the remade sequel. Jumanji: The Next Level just dropped its first trailer and it does not disappoint! Take a look:
Jumanji: The Next Level: The Oldest Roles In the Newest Ways
One question my daughter asked was how are they going to do a sequel? Will they just recast or what? We now have our answer. While the roles of 3 of the four kids remain the same, how they enter the game changes completely. WE get to enjoy the same ensemble cast acting completely different because the characters from teh real world are different.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, Martha gets to remain Karen Gillan, but everyone else shuffles bodies. Spencer apparently reenters teh game, but does not have one of the four returning bodies. Bethany is seen in the real world, but not in the game world. Antony now gets Jack Black’s character. This leaves the Rock and Kevin Hart open, so who takes their avatars? None other than the new grandpas played by Danny Devito and Danny Glover!
While the avatar class stays the same, three of the four actors have to create brand new ways of acting to mimic Devito and Glover. This should be a lot of fun watching Rock and Hart twist their natural performances to imitate the likes of Glover and Devito.
Hit Play and Let the Fun Resume
After that the trailer looks like it will bring the same comic intensity and action as the first, well second, Jumanji. This looks to be a remake, while similar to the 2017 version, should be so much fun (All together now!): IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT WE THINK!!
There is only one major problem. Jumanji: The Next Level comes out one week before Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Expect a huge opening weekend, but after that it may nose dive. Let us hope last year showed several movies can do well at once when we had Bumblebee and Aquaman on the same weekend. Then again they ain’t Star Wars.
