The Hauntmare Expo had its debut show this past weekend in Fresno, California at the Fresno Fairgrounds. With the popularity of horror and Halloween, organizers wanted to bring some of that spooky fun to the Central Valley. The benefit would be that it could attract people from up north and down south.

ABOUT THE HAUNTMARE EXPO

In its first year, the Hauntmare Expo brought a variety of entertainment. This included four haunted houses, escape rooms, a rage room, and video games in a dark misty hall. You will also see a variety of vendors, food, photo ops, live make-up demos, and celebrities you may recognize from some of your favorite horror movies right next door. The Hauntmare Expo had a big-name sponsor in the Winchester Mystery House. They were showcasing their Unhinged Hotel Halloween attraction which will debut on September 13th. As well as a well-known local sponsor in Blue Shell Gaming.

A CHAT WITH THE CO-OWNER

I had the opportunity to attend this year’s Hauntmare Expo. There I was able to speak with the co-owner of the convention Dino Garcia. He shared some of the reasons it was important to bring a horror convention to Fresno. As well as some of the challenges in putting it together. With all the work that was put into the show, Garcia shares with us what it means to him to see all of the people having a good time throughout the weekend. You can check out the full interview down below!

It will be fun to see this show grow year to year. Fresno is fifth largest city in California. It is about three hours away from both San Francisco and Los Angeles. This makes it a great place for a show like the Hauntmare Expo
