Is it too early to usher in the start of spooky season? Spirit Halloween stores are cropping up, so I say no. And Prime Video clearly wants to get you ready for Halloween too – they just announced Killer Cakes.
The “deliciously gory” upcoming special sees horror studio Blumhouse team up with High Noon Entertainment (Cake Boss) for a new baking competition. Here’s the official description from Prime Video:
Killer Cakes is a one-of-a-kind competition show where bakers with terrifying skills attempt to win some of the most frightening challenges ever produced for television. Contestants will work with the best horror special effects artists in Hollywood to unleash their twisted imaginations and create cakes so disgusting, so disturbing, and so realistic, it’s the stuff of nightmares.
Horror veteran Matthew Lillard (Scream, Five Nights at Freddy’s) will host the series. He’s joined by judges Danielle Harris (Halloween franchise) and experimental food artist and cookbook author Nikk Alcaraz (Peculiar Baking).
Killer Cakes competitors include:
- Amanda Yother of Rathdrum, ID
- Dillon Barlow of Houston, TX
- Dziedra “Z” Brusberg of Marysville, WA
- Deadra “Dee” Compean of Beaumont, TX
- Eszter Summerlin of Gulf Breeze, FL
- Jesse Lesser of Dallas, TX
- Mark Lie of Chicago, IL
- Shanelle Long of Pensacola, FL
Ruth Amsel serves as showrunner for Killer Cakes. Jason Blum and Gretchen Palek executive produce for Blumhouse Television, with Scott Feeley executive producing for High Noon. Lillard also executive produces, as well as serving as the host.
The two-part special Killer Cakes will premiere globally on Prime Video on October 8. Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
