Today Shout! TV revealed plans for Pee-wee Forever, a 24-hour marathon of the series Pee-wee’s Playhouse. The marathon aims to honor the late Paul Reubens, who passed away last year after a battle with cancer.
Pee-wee Forever will pay tribute to Reubens’ beloved character Pee-wee Herman, with special greetings and tributes to Reubens recorded by his friends and co-stars. Appearances will include acclaimed actor David Arquette, horror hostess Cassandra Peterson, series composer and co-founder of Devo Mark Mothersbaugh, actress Lynne Stewart (Miss Yvonne, the Most Beautiful Woman in Puppet Land), voice actor Gregory Harrison, puppeteer Kevin Carlson, series restoration manager Jim Hardy, and producers Alycia Rossiter and Rich Abramson.
The character of Pee-wee Herman captivated audiences for over 25 years. Pee-wee’s Playhouse brought a world of creativity and imagination to life, as both an educational and entertaining TV program. The series collected 22 Emmy awards, among other accolades, in just its original five year run on CBS.
In addition, Shout! will also release exclusive new physical copies of the series. The Blu-ray set Pee-wee’s Playhouse: The Complete Series [Deluxe Limited Edition] includes a set of three retro prism stickers, a retro trading card pack, a Magic Screen lenticular card, and an enamel pin set.
The Pee-wee Forever marathon can be viewed on Shout! TV, as well as the Shout! TV app, on August 27.
