DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 10 quickly scales up the aliens’ appearances. We not only see a lot more of them, but also just how horrendously the humans are treating any alien they find. Honestly, this is when the invasion comes home for a lot of the main characters.

Production Cast

Tomoyuki Kurokawa is the director behind DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 10, and alas, he is the only member of the production cast we know is behind this specific episode. For the anime as a whole, we do still know that Tomoyuki Kurokawa (PSYCHO-PASS) is the director. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden) is the writer. Takaaki Suzuki (Violet Evergarden series) did the world setting. Nobutake Ito (INU-OH) is the chief animation director and character designer. Satoshi Takezawa (Digimon Adventure) is the color designer. Mika Nishimura (Typhoon Noruda) is the art director. Satoi Inami is the CG director. Takuma Morooka (Moriarty the Patriot) is the cinematographer. Masayuki Kurosawa (Laid-Back Camp) is the editor. Takeshi Takadera ([Oshi no Ko]) is the sound director. Taro Umebayashi (Space Dandy) is the composer responsible for the music.

Speaking of the music: the opening theme song is “Shinsekai Yori” (SHINSEKAIより, lit. ’From the New World’) by Ano and Lilas Ikuta. This time though, “Seishun Ōka” (青春謳歌, lit. ’Adolescence Hymn’) by Lilas Ikuta feat. Ano is the new ending theme song for this second part.

Funny for us, but not good for him.

There’s no doubt whatsoever that it’s the story of DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 10 that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Mostly because of the dark thriller aspects of this episode. Seriously, this is one of the darkest episodes in the anime so far. When an episode of the anime shows the main characters watching as unarmed civilians, including children, are being gunned down more or less right in front of them, you know that this story is a very dark one. Really, you end up longing for the slice of life parts of this episode. At the very least, they provide some relief from the tension and drama. Kudos for Inio Asano for writing such a delectable dark chocolate of a story here.

A story that would not nearly be as good without the animation. Fortunately, Production +h. continues to deliver with quality animation. Indeed, it’s basically feature-length anime film levels of animation on par with Black Butler -Public School Arc-. Which isn’t surprising given how Production +h. was also responsible for the anime film duology this anime was adapted from. Seriously, the blood and gore in this episode was disturbingly highly detailed. It shall haunt my nightmares.

Probably not a bad thing it’s not working.

Alas, despite the fairly large amount of action in DEAD DEAD DEMONS DEDEDEDE DESTRUCTION Ep. 10, it’s still probably not enough for most action junkies. The action isn’t for Michael Bay-esque high-intensity vibes. No, it’s played far more for drama and even horror. If you want action played positively instead, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling, Kaiju No. 8, and/or The Elusive Samurai. Those anime will get your blood pumping without making you feel like you just watched a war crime happen.
