After a long delay for the Emmy Award winning series Euphoria, HBO announces that Season 3 begins filming next year.
Yesterday, we finally had a follow-up on Euphoria‘s third season confirming production set for January 2025 including the returning cast members. Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming stated her excitement to work with an amazing crew and continue the popular series.
“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on ‘Euphoria’ in January,” said Orsi. “We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of ‘Euphoria’ to life for the fans.”
With fans excited for Euphoria returning to action, it’s too soon to know further details for the upcoming season. Although, creator Sam Levinson revealed his idea of how season three’s story will look. In a previous Variety report, Levinson went to HBO in early 2024 to share his idea for season three. He wanted the story to feature a five-year time jump, including for Rue where she’s working as a private investigator. It would be interesting to see Rue’s change as a young adult as well as the other characters. However, HBO decided to pause the series until the story could be in line with the second season.
As for the cast members, such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie, and Eric Daneprimary will be making a comeback for another season. Disappointing to say, that not all cast members from season two will likely return which includes Barbie Ferreira’s character.
Barbie Ferreira Won’t Return for Season Three
Back in 2022, Barbie Ferreira announced her departure from the show on Instagram expressing her gratitude for playing Kat Hernandez. Although, her character won’t be making an appearance for next season, let’s not forget the first time we got introduced. Aside from being Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) best friend, she’s also known as a character with confidence when it comes to body positivity and sexuality. From Kat’s bad and good moments, she will still be the character that everybody will miss.
‘Euphoria’ can be full of surprises since the HBO series has received twenty-five Emmy nominations along with nine wins. Also, fans are looking forward to where the story will go especially for Rue. During the early stages of production, it’s too early to determine the show’s release date which only time would tell.
