Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is now available to buy digitally. Then on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 27. The 20th Century feature film wrapped up at the box office almost crossing $400 million. It was well-received by critics and audiences alike. The film, directed by Wes Ball, is the of a new era for the franchise.
4K UHD Edition
Fans of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes dive deeper into the lore on 4K UHD editions. There you can find “Inside the Lens: The Raw Cut”. This is a full-length alternative cut with a split-screen comparison between the final cut of the final film and a version with unfinished VFX. It also includes optional audio commentary by the director Wes Ball, editor Dan Zimmerman, and VFX supervisor Erik Winquist. This never-before-seen alternative cut allows fans to see the actors’ performances before the visual effects were completed.
The 4K UHD will arrive in a collective limited edition SteelBook with custom artwork by artist Dylan Cole. Also, fans of the franchise can bring home the whole collection of Planet of the Apes movies on digital in select retailers. The special bundle of ten films will be available for $100.
Bonus Features
Included is the documentary, “Inside the Forbidden Zone: Making Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”. Here director Wes Ball, cast, and crew expand the “Planet of the Apes” legacy for a new generation. You’ll travel to the outdoor production in Australia, train at Ape School, and discover the practical and motion capture techniques in building the Kingdom.
Also included in the bonus features are 14 deleted/extended scenes with optional audio commentary by director Wes Ball.
