Spider-Man Noir might look familiar to fans of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That would be because the film noir version of Spider-Man was one of the main characters of the latter animated film. However, that character is actually far older than that. He actually predates the animated film by about 14 years, first appearing in Spider-Man: Noir #1 in February 2009. Alas, as you can tell by his lack of publicity, he wasn’t a particular famous Spider-Man.
However, the success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2023 means that Spider-Man Noir is now going big. Really big. As in: live-action series big. Thus, they need a big cast for that show. Fortunately, they’ve just found another one for that cast.
Spider-Man Noir: Brendan Gleeson Details
Variety has just revealed that Brendan Gleeson has just joined the cast of Spider-Man Noir. Alas, they do not have any info on who this award-winning Irish actor and director will play. The only confirmed detail they have is that he will play a villain on the series, and nothing more. Fortunately, he is well suited to the role of a villain. From crime films like The General (1998) to black tragicomedies like The Banshees of Inisherin (2022), has played characters both evil and morally ambiguous. You can bet that Gleeson will do a fine job in this Spider-Man film.
Gleeson won’t be alone in this series though. He will be the villain to Nicholas Cage‘s Spider-Man in that film. In addition, Lamorne Morris will play Robbie Robertson in the same. Thus, we’ve got ourselves a pretty top-notch star ensemble here so far, and it’s only just the beginning. We’ll just have to wait for Amazon to give us more info about this Amazon Prime Video series later.
Tune back in to THS later to find out more Spider-Man Noir and its ever-growing list of star-studded cast members when we do.
