Mahershala Ali Enters Jurassic World In Mystery Role

The two-time Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali is entering Jurassic World. He’s joining up with Scarlett Johansson to star in the film. he’ll also star alongside Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Gareth Edwards will direct a script from series steward David Koepp.

As for plot details, there aren’t any solid ones; besides, we’ll be getting more dinosaur action. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing through Kennedy/Marshall. Steven Spielberg will executive produce through Amblin Entertainment. The movie has a current release date of July 2nd, 2025, which isn’t a very long turnaround between shooting and release.

Mahershala Ali is one of the most selective actors out there, and has famously avoided blockbuster films. Adding him to the cast signals that it could be something pretty special. He’s known for his serious-minded roles as well, so we’ll have to see who and how he plays his upcoming character. He won Oscars for his performances in Moonlight and Green Book. His last two projects were voicing Uncle Aaron in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and Leave The World Behind on Netflix.

The new movie will be a completely different take on the Jurassic franchise. It likely won’t include Chris Pratt or Bryce Dallas Howard from the three previous Jurassic World films, as well as Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, or Sam Neill. If you forgot, Jurassic World: Dominion is one of the only films in recent years, since the COVID-19 pandemic to rake in over $1 billion at the box office.
