Will Ferrell will make a splash in scripted TV comedy soon in GOLF. Netflix revealed the news today during its Upfronts presentation.
Netflix announced a 10 episode order for GOLF, which stars Ferrell as a fictional golf legend. Ferrell also serves as co-creator on the series, along with Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz. Youssef will also star in the series, but his role remains undisclosed at this time.
Rabinowitz and Youssef serve as the series’ showrunners and executive producers. Ferrell executive produces under his Gloria Sanchez Productions banner, alongside Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor. Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodrigue are executive producers for T-Street. Andy Campagna executive produces for Cairo Cowboy.
GOLF marks Ferrell’s first foray into scripted comedic television. Outside of his stint on Saturday Night Live, Ferrell’s comedy career has largely focused on films. His feature credits include Anchorman, Elf, Blades of Glory, and Talladega Nights, among others. He recently appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, and will next lend his voice to Despicable Me 4.
Youssef, known for his self-titled TV series Ramy, also exec produced the Netflix comedy Mo. He recently appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Poor Things and lent his voice to Disney’s Wish.
Rabinowitz previously teamed with Youssef as a producer on Ramy. He also produced The Carmichael Show and the upcoming feature Babes.
Outside of the creative team and a tease at Ferrell’s leading role, Netflix didn’t unveil any other details about GOLF at this time. So, check back to THS for more updates on this one.
