The new 28 Years Later trilogy from Danny Boyle and Sony Pictures has found three of the stars for the film. According to Deadline, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have signed on for the sequel to 28 Days Later.
Boyle is directing a script from Alex Garland. Plot details are slim to none at this moment, but we can expect the movie to follow the same track as the previous two 28 Days/Weeks Later films. The first film saw a bicycle courier (played by Cillian Murphy) who wakes from a coma to discover the world had been overrun with zombies following the outbreak of a virus. That first film grossed more than $82 million worldwide and led to the 2007 film 28 Weeks Later.
The new film has a planned second part with Nia DaCosta joining as the director of that film. They’re supposed to film back to back. These three new cast members put plenty of star power behind the film, as opposed to the more up-and-comers found in the first two films. Boyle and Garland are also producing 28 Years Later, as is original producer Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice. Bernie Bellew is also producing. Murphy is also returning as an executive producer.
Jodie Comer has been a busy actress since her starmaking turn in Killing Eve. She starred in Free Guy and The Last Duel, which both were critically acclaimed. She stars in the upcoming The BIkeriders with Tom Hardy and Austin Butler. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been a household name for a while now, he’s been in films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Godzilla, Bullet Train and will star in the upcoming Kraven The Hunter for Sony. Ralph Fiennes is an Oscar-nominated star of the Harry Potter franchise, and features in the upcoming Conclave from director Edward Berger.
