Robert Pattinson’s return to Gotham is set to be delayed for a year. The Batman Part II has been postponed a year, from Oct. 3, 2025, to its new date on Oct. 2, 2026.
Warner Bros, the studio behind the superhero movie, which also stars the Oscar-nominated Jeffrey Wright, has shuffled around other titles on its calendar. According to The Wrap, Batman Part II was pushed back due to delays in script development caused by the WGA strikes.
The sequel to Matt Reeves‘ The Batman was first announced at CinemaCon in April 2022. In August of the same year, Mattson Tomlin was announced as the co-writer with Reeves. No plot details or casting news have been revealed yet, although Jeffery Wright’s Jim Gordon is expected to return alongside Robert Pattinson’s caped crusader.
Fans of Reeves’ take on Gotham won’t have to wait until 2026 to visit that world. Reeves has recently been working on spinoff series The Penguin starring Colin Farrell. The Penguin is reportedly scheduled for a Fall 2024 release date after being pushed back from a prior projected Spring 2024 release
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride, starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Penelope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard, will take The Batman sequel’s old spot in the fall of 2025. The movie, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, will be a modern update of The Bride Of Frankenstein. Set in the 1930s, the story will focus on the chaos caused by the bride after she is brought to life by Dr. Frankenstein.
Robert DeNiro’s mob drama Alto Knights has moved from Nov. 15, 2024, to March 21, 2025. Barry Levinson directs from a screenplay by Goodfellas scribe Nick Pileggi; with Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, and Michael Rispoli also starring.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled movie, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Regina Hall; will be released in theaters on Aug. 8, 2025. It marks the filmmakers’ first project to be released in Imax.
