It seems as if Tom Cruise is not happy and there is not really much he can do to fix it. The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One star is not shabby about the IMAX rollout of the film. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is releasing in theaters on July 12, 2023. This release also includes most IMAX theaters as well. This seems great, right? Well, what is making Cruise upset is that Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film Oppenheimer is scheduled to release on July 21, 2023, and will run exclusively at IMAX theaters for three weeks, bumping Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One from the IMAX spotlight.

So why is Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One getting bumped from the IMAX spotlight? Well, when IMAX shot Oppenheimer releases a little over after a week of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One the film will have a three-week exclusive run at the IMAX theaters. This will be the only film running during this time. According to a report from Puck News this is what is Making Cruice mad.

“Tom Cruise is pretty pissed these days. The star-producer of Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One has been complaining loudly to Paramount executives and others about the IMAX situation, per multiple sources familiar with the dialogue. Mission 7 has booked most of the IMAX screens for the week of the film’s July 12 opening, but then on July 21 comes Universal’s Oppenheimer, which has locked in all the IMAX screens in North America and other territories for three full weeks. Mission 7, Cruise’s nearly $300 million-budgeted baby, is getting bumped.”
