It may be Super Mario Movie release week, but Illumination is already looking forward toward its next project. The animation studio announced the new movie Migration today.
The story follows a family of ducks going on a journey. It’s a pretty vague premise, with Illumination not really revealing much else at this time. However, the studio dropped an official announcement video for the project, which you can watch below.
As you can see, most of the video focuses on hyping Illumination’s past projects. (The studio made a big splash with Despicable Me. Other projects include Sing, The Secret Life of Pets, and Minions, as well as the new Super Mario Bros. Movie.) So, we don’t learn much about the upcoming feature Migration at all.
The official synopsis paired with the announcement doesn’t clarify much, either:
This holiday season, Illumination, creators of the blockbuster Minions, Despicable Me, Sing and The Secret Life of Pets comedies, invites you to take flight into the thrill of the unknown with a funny, feathered family vacation like no other in the action-packed new original comedy, Migration.
In addition to the synopsis, we know Migration comes from writer Mike White and director Benjamin Renner.
The announcement does pair the film with a Christmas release date. So, expect to learn more about this animated adventure sometime between now and December.
Until then, check back to THS for more updates.
