Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night is an original anime by studio Doga Kobo (Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, My Senpai is Annoying, Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie). Or at least, it will be once we actually get to see it. When will that be, you might ask? Well, not for a while, according to this latest teaser trailer for it. Don’t believe me? Then why not check it out for yourself below?

Doga Kobo’s Latest…Anime?

Yes, it is an anime, despite what this teaser trailer looks like.

Weirdly enough, this is a most misleading teaser trailer for Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night (Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai in the original Japanese). The vast majority of the teaser trailer is in live-action, and in fact, seems to basically be camera footage of various scenes somewhere in Japan at night. The only bit of animated goodness we even get comes at the very end. There, we finally see an animated still image of the teaser visual coming into colored life from a black and white sketch.

The end of that teaser visual is also where we get an idea of when we’ll get to see this original anime. Apparently, Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night will makes its debut sometime in 2024. We don’t have any more specific a release date than that. That’s something we’ll have to wait for at a later date. Tune back in to THS to find that out when we do.
