As it turns out, we’re going to get a live-action Saint Seiya adaptation in the form of Knights of the Zodiac. In fact, we’re going to get it pretty soon based on the new teaser trailer they just released for it. What teaser trailer, you might ask? Well, you can check out said teaser trailer below, and see for yourself.
Saint Seiya: The Live-Action Remake
Sony Pictures Entertainment is proud to announce Knights of the Zodiac via that teaser trailer above on YouTube. As I said before, the film is a live-action adaptation of the Saint Seiya manga series (which also has its own numerous anime adaptations) by Masami Kurumada. The teaser trailer really shows that off.
Said teaser trailer mostly introduces us to the 2 main characters of Knights of the Zodiac: Seiya (played by Mackenyu) and Sienna (played by Madison Iseman). The latter is the recent incarnation of the goddess Athena on Earth, while the former is her mortal hero. Honestly, it reminds me of a bit of The Legend of Zelda games, but in anime and manga form, and now in live-action form as well. It also makes me wonder why Sienne isn’t the main protagonist though given that she is supposed to be the goddess’s incarnation on Earth. But that’s a complaint I share with The Legend of Zelda as well. Not sure what it says about this type of story, but it is what it is.
Still, if you want to watch Saint Seiya enter the world of live-action, then you won’t have very long to wait. At the end of that teaser trailer, it reveals that Knights of the Zodiac will make its theatrical debut on May 12, 2023. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when tickets will be available. Based on the international anime sensation, Knights of the Zodiac brings the Saint Seiya saga to the big screen in live-action for the first time.
