As it turns out, Agatha: Coven of Chaos isn’t just getting a single director. This upcoming Disney+ spinoff of WandaVision isn’t even just getting two directors. Nay, apparently, this series will be getting a total of three directors. And that’s just for now.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos ~ The Directors Three
The Hollywood Reporter just came out with the news that Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be getting a trio of new directors to direct this upcoming Disney+ series. And in a surprising twist: all three of the directors are women to boot. These three directors are: Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision, Black Widow), Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday), and Rachel Goldberg (A Friend of the Family, Resident Evil (2022)).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Schaeffer will direct “multiple episodes” of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Unfortunately, that’s the only solid info we have on who’s directing what. We don’t even have a vague suggestion of how many episodes Monteiro and Goldberg will be directing. We don’t even know if all of these directors will direct the same episodes, or if it’s spread out among them. We’ll just have to wait for official word from Marvel Studios later. Tune back in to THS later to find out that info when we do. In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at our three directors, shall we?
Jac Shaeffer: Details
To start us off: Jacqueline “Jac” Schaeffer is an American film director. She made her film debut with the 2009 science fiction romantic comedy film TiMER. However, that’s not what she’s best known for. No, her most famous work is as the creator of WandaVision for Disney+ back in 2021. Schaeffer also co-wrote the story for Black Widow (2021), but that’s not important for today. What is important is that Schaeffer is returning to direct Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which means we’ll probably get a pretty trippy show.
Gandja Monteiro: Details
Gandja Monteiro is unfortunately a bit more mysterious than Jac Schaeffer. She has no Wikipedia article for one thing, and all we know is that she directed a few episodes of Wednesday for Netflix. Considering how much positive reception that show is getting though, I have high hopes for her work on Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Rachel Goldberg: Details
Even more unfortunately, Rachel Goldberg is just as mysterious as Gandja Monteiro. A Wikipedia search for her name only takes you to the article for a show called Unreal, which Goldberg had absolutely no involvement in. Instead, her work seems to consist of directing a couple of episodes of A Friend of the Family and the new Resident Evil series for Netflix. The latter though got mixed reviews from critics at best, and overwhelmingly negative reception from audiences and fans of the original games. Let’s hope she does better for Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
