After more than a decade of waiting, Avatar fans will finally get to see the sequel in less than a month. And in preparation for the premiere, Disney declared today “Avatar Day.”

What does “Avatar Day” mean? Well, for one, it means the arrival of The Way of Water’s final trailer. But you’ll have to wait a few more hours to watch it. It will officially debut during ESPN’s Monday Night Football game. (The game kicks off at 5:15pm PT / 8:15pm ET. However, Disney did not specify a time for the trailer’s release.)

More Avatar Day Events

Disney will launch Avatar Day events around the world, including…

Venice – Canals turned blue with a projection on the water and buildings.

Sydney – The Bondi Beach Icebergs Pool transformed into a giant blue birds’ eye view billboard for the film.

New York City – Times Square billboards will light up 40 digital screens at 7pm EST, immersing viewers in an anamorphic 3D, nearly 360 degree experience of Pandora’s breathtaking underwater world.

Brand Partnerships

Snapchat –  Disney partnered with Snapchat to launch a Na’vi Lens. Every Snapchatter will get a personalized experience. The Lens uses machine learning to transform in real-time their mouth, eyes, head shape, hair and skin – complete with blue-striped texture – as if they came straight from Pandora. Try it here.

Amazon Alexa – Say “Alexa, enable ‘Avatar’ theme” to get “Avatar” visuals and sounds whenever they set timers and alarms, ask for weather, say hello and more. You can also say, “Alexa, teach me Na’vi” to learn the language of the film. This marks Alexa’s first film-themed experience.

Disney+ – Beginning today, November 21, the original Avatar film is once again available to stream on Disney+.
