Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has added Oscar-winning actor DanielKaluuya to its already impressive cast. Kaluuya will voice Hobart “Hobie” Brown / Spider-Punk. Spider-Punk is a more recent character to Marvel Comics, having first appeared in 2015. Kaluuya actor was last seen starting in Jordan Peele’s Horror/Sci-fi movie Nope, which was released in July 2022. This is not the first comic book film that Kaluuya has been a part of, the actor previously appeared in Marvel’s Black Panther as W’Kabi.
SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE
The film is a sequel to the 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Major details of the plot are being kept a secret at this point, but the movie will see the return of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), teaming up with Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld). The movie is also expected to feature several new and returning “Spider-Characters”. Actors Oscar Isaac, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, and Greta Lee are all on board to reprise their roles from the first film. Joining them are newcomers Issa Rae, Rachel Dratch, Joma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and also Jason Schwartzman.
Justin K. Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Kemp Powers are directing the animated feature. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Christina Steinberg are producing. Lord and Miller are also credited as writers for the film.
Across the Spider-Verse, is set to swing into theatres on June 2, 2023. The movie is the second film of a planned trilogy. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the third film is set to be released on March 29, 2024.
