Much rumor and speculation has surfaced in regards to Matt Smith in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Of the latest is the back and forth in regards to Doctor Who alumni. Questions still swirl as to whether he is, in fact, part of the new additions for the film.
Back in August multiple reports indicated Smith would be playing an unknown character. But Lucasfilm hasn’t made any kind of official announcement. Likewise, denial by the actor himself had things seemingly shut it down completely. Until now.
CinemaBlend recently reported that on the Disney’s United Kingdom website, listed Matt Smith’s name as apart of the new actors added to the Star Wars universe. But now when you go to the page…. Look for Matt Smith’s name and you won’t find it. Was it leaked and then removed? Did it ever contain Matt Smith’s name on the site to begin with? Whatever the case, there is a lot of mystery behind the curtains.
Is Matt Smith in Star Wars or not?
There is a lot of speculation in regards to who Matt Smith might portray in the film if he is actually cast. Some may thing he is a member of the Knights of Ren who may be hunting down Kylo since he killed Snoke. Or is it possible he is a younger clone of Emperor Palpatine himself? One things for sure, there is a game being played and I think it will all be answered in the Emperor’s throne. (See what I did there?)
While we don’t know who he’ll play in The Rise of Skywalker, we can still give you some exclusive Matt Smith news: he’s slated to play the bad guy in the upcoming science-fiction thriller Settlers.
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theatres December 20, 2019. Whether we’ll see Smith then remains to be seen.
