It’s been a busy day for news in Hollywood, with confirmations of a new Planet of the Apes film, and now Now You See Me 3 is confirmed by Lionsgate. Deadline is reporting that director Ruben Fleischer will helm the third film in the magic illusionists’ franchise. Fleischer is joined by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies writer Seth Grahame-Smith to work on a new draft of the script. Originally, writer Eric Warren Singer was attached and did the previous draft. They’re coming along with the cast from the first two films, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman.
Fleischer had this to say about the film and announcement:
There are three things in this world I absolutely love… Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and magic. To have the chance to work with these two talented actors, as well as rest of the incredible cast of the Now You See Me movies is a dream come true. I am a lifelong fan of heist movies – I love getting drawn in by the twists and the mystery where nothing is what it seems. And that’s even more true when the thieves are magicians – the opportunities are endless. Eric was able to unlock a fresh and exciting way into a new movie and fun new characters, so I’m excited to dig in even further.
Fleischer has previously worked with Eisenberg and Harrelson on both of the massively successful Zombieland films. He also directed Venom and Uncharted among other films in his career. There’s no current release date for the film.
