Any fans of Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense here besides me? Well, as it turns out, we’re going to get a season 2 of the anime at long last. Moreover, we even have a release window all thanks to a new trailer that just made its debut. Check it out below:
The Return of Maple and Friends!
KADOKAWAanime just released that new PV trailer for Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 above on YouTube. In fact, this PV trailer is the first one for season 2 of this anime period. Said PV trailer basically shows Maple and Sally hanging out with the rest of the members of guild Maple Tree, and generally having more fun in the in-universe virtual reality game NewWorld Online.
This season though, it seems that rival guilds The Kingdom of the Flame Emperor and Order of the Holy Sword will be taking a more prominent role in this second season. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal much about them, but at least it closes out with Maple unleashing her mecha suit and other assorted equipment and abilities from the first season. You know, the ones that turned her into an OP powerhouse in the first place? Yeah, good times there.
The PV trailer even gives us a release window at the very end. Apparently, Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 will make its debut sometime in January 2023. Presumably, we’ll get a more specific release date as we get closer to next year. Also, since Funimation originally licensed this anime for its NA release, we can expect Crunchyroll to license it this time around. We don’t yet have official confirmation of that though. Tune back in to THS later to find out when we do.
Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 ~ Details
Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 is the second season of the anime, which is itself the anime adaptation of the sci-fi comedy light novel series of the same name by Yuumikan. SILVER LINK (Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Brave Witches, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) remains the animation studio behind the anime. Shin Oonuma and Mirai Minato return to direct this season of the anime, with all production staff and voice talents returning to reprise their roles. As mentioned before, Funimation originally licensed this anime before Crunchyroll took up their duties following Sony’s acquisition of them.
As for what Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 is about? While we don’t have a synopsis for season 2, we do have an official summary of the story from Funimation. Check it out below:
“She may be new to gaming, but Maple has found the secret to invincibility! Just put all your skill points into defense until you can’t even move. That works, right? She doesn’t want to experience any pain in the VRMMO game she started playing, and somehow it works better than anyone expected. Now she’s got followers??”
You can catch up on season 1 of Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense on Funimation or Crunchyroll. Curiously, Crunchyroll has locked this anime behind their paywall, while Funimation allows you to watch for free. So if you don’t mind ads, I’d recommend Funimation.
