Walt Disney Studio’s The Lion King is releasing July 19th. Jon Favreau, who has directed Marvel Studio’s Iron Man, Disney’s The Jungle Book, and the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series The Mandalorian, is at the helm of the project with an all-star cast, including Beyonce, Donald Glover, and even James Earl Jones.
From what the all of the trailer have shown us, this movie was not filmed the same way The Jungle Book was. Favreau has mentioned before that he shot this film with VR, since there are no human actors in the film.
And thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we got a first look at a bunch of images from the upcoming film.
This first image gives a really good look at the re-imagined Rafiki. John Kani is voicing the character, and it seems like his character will have the same role from the 1994 animated film.
