When Avengers: Endgame hits theaters at the end of this week, it marks two huge changes coming to the MCU.
First is that the original six Avengers won’t be in the films after this. Secondly, and sadly, this film marks Stan Lee’s last MCU cameo. But fans won’t be done with Stan completely.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly during a Roundtable with the original 6 Avengers, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did mention that “We’ve put a video together. We’ve never done this before, a behind-the-scenes of every cameo. All the B-roll that was shot and his stand-ups there. His passing was very emotional for all of us, but it suddenly all came back to me just when I watched it.”
The footage that will be included with the Avengers: Endgame home release will date back to 2008, starting with Stan’s cameo in the first Iron Man movie. And there will even be a deleted cameo included that shows Chris Evan’s Captain America getting flack from Stan The Man.
Avengers: Endgame Home Release to Feature Stan Lee
Feige did confirm that the studio is going to release the footage. He made it fairly clear that including the footage on the home video release for Avengers: Endgame is a distinct possibility.
Also during the roundtable, Feige has this to say about Stan Lee:
“The amazing thing is, just as you’ve all said, he said the right thing to the right person at all times. Every interaction was what one’s dream interaction with Stan Lee would be.
“He left me a voicemail once, in 2004 or something. I’d never gotten a voicemail from Stan Lee, and I kept it for years until I think the phone disintegrated. But it was: ‘Fearless Feige! Stan Lee here….’ I listened to it over and over and over. That’s what he was always like — always supportive.”
Whatever Feige and Marvel decide to do with the Avengers: Endgame home release, Stan will always be with us. Excelsior!
