Fall doesn’t just kick off spooky season. It also kicks off Oscars season. Yup, get ready for an influx of emotional dramas from powerhouse directors and big-name stars. Today’s offering? Armageddon Time.
The feature comes from writer/director James Gray (Ad Astra, Lost City of Z). Though specific plot details about Armageddon Time are under wraps, the film reportedly draws inspiration from Gray’s time growing up in Queens, New York in the 1980s. Focus Features describes it as “a deeply personal story on the strength of family, the complexity of friendship and the generational pursuit of the American Dream.”
Check out the trailer for Armageddon Time below.
The film features an award-winning cast, including Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Anthony Hopkins and Emmy winner Jeremy Strong. Rounding out the ensemble are Banks Repeta, Jaylin Webb, Tovah Feldshuh, and Ryan Sell.
Armageddon Time premiered at Cannes earlier this year. It also recently screened at Telluride. Regular audiences will be able to catch the film in theaters later this year. It kicks off a limited theatrical release October 28, with a nationwide debut to follow on November 11. (Like I mentioned, prime “Oscar contender” season.)
