It has been a pretty interesting week for Warner Bros. and DC films. From the cancellation of Batgirl to the merger announcement of HBO Max and Discovery+, many people are wondering what is next for DC Films. Well, that answer kind of came during the Warner Bros. Discovery Q2 2022 earnings call on Thursday. During the future of DC Films Q&A session, CEO David Zaslav released that there is a 10-year plan for the DC Universe.
“There will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger put together, very effectively, with Kevin Feige at Disney. We think that we could build a long-term much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC. And as part of that, we’re going to focus on quality. We’re not going to release any film before it’s ready. We’re not going to release a film to make a quarter. We’re not going to release a film unless the focus is going to be, ‘How do we make each of these films in general as good as possible?’ But DC is something that we think we could make better and we’re focused on it now. We have some great DC films coming up Black Adam, Shazam, and Flash – and we’re working on all of those. We’re very excited about them.”
So as of this moment, it looks as if fans still have some DC content to look forward to. But after the cancelation of The Wonder Twins movie and Batgirl, you can see why some fans are worried about what the future holds. So DC fans hold on tight it looks like it will be a bumpy ride. Let’s just hope Blue Beetle makes the cut.
This is still a developing story. Make sure to check back to That Hashtag Show for more on DC and movie news.
