You know how there have been a bunch of rumors swirling about a feature-length Avatar: The Last Airbender film, right? Not a lot of hard facts, right? Well, as it turns out, Avatar Korra herself is here to change that at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Don’t believe me? Then check out her podcast clip below and find out for yourself:
Avatar Korra Speaks!
Nickelodeon has just released a clip from a podcast by Janet Varney, the voice of Avatar Korra from the titular The Legend of Korra, on Twitter. In that clip, Varney officially reveals that the first feature-length animated Avatar: The Last Airbender film from Avatar Studios will star Avatar Aang himself, along with the rest of the Gaang. Presumably, she means the full team of Sokka, Katara, Toph, Zuko, Momo, and Appa. No idea if Suki is included in the team though. That’s presumably something that Nickelodeon or Avatar Studios will clarify later. You can find the full transcript of Varney’s podcast clip below:
“Hello Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast friends and Avatar-verse lovers! Itβs me, Janet, and I am so sad not to be at San Diego Comic-Con with Dante and with all of you. Iβve just been doing a little reading while I recuperate, and it reminded me that we actually have some exclusive Avatar Studios news for you all! Now, there have been a lot of rumors floating around, a lot of speculation and a lot of excitement β I feel it too. But we figured it was time to set the record straight. The first feature length movie from Avatar Studios will be focusing on Avatar Aang and his friends, and I for one cannot wait!”
Untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender Film ~ Details
So far, we don’t really have a lot of information about this Avatar: The Last Airbender feature-length film. Heck, it doesn’t even have a title yet. Here’s what we do know though:
Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation are the animation studios behind this untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender feature-length film. Lauren Montgomery (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Voltron: Legendary Defender) will direct this film. Bryan Konietzko (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra), Michael DiMartino (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra), & Eric Coleman (Avatar: The Last Airbender, SpongeBob SquarePants) will produce this film, as fitting for the original creators of the franchise. Unfortunately, that’s it. Tune in later to find out more info about this mystery film as soon as we get it.
