Lena Waithe, known for her work as a writer on shows like Bones, Hello Cupid, Boomerang, and The Chi, has been cast in the 3rd season of HBO’s Westworld. In addition to her work as a writer, Lena has appeared on-screen in Ready Player One, Dear White People, and Master of None.
Waithe, whose role is being kept secret (at least for now), is joining Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul who was cast in an unknown role back in September. While little is know about the new season, it’s been said the new season will be a ‘radical shift’. Maybe that means less vague questions and more answers? Probably not. My guess is more of a focus on the outside world and maybe what’s going on at Delos.
Westworld Season 3
Westworld wrapped its second season in mid-2018 on yet another crazy cliffhanger. Season 3 probably won’t premiere until the end of 2019, or even early 2020. Is that too long to wait between seasons? Animated shows like Rick and Morty, Venture Bros, and Archer seem to get away with it just fine. Is it different for Live Action?
While the first season was hugely popular, the long break between seasons could be killing its momentum. As we’ve seen with Lost in Space on Netflix, these extended breaks can potentially kill audience interest.
While the current season of Game of Thrones was delayed due to filming conditions, the previous seasons had only been a year apart. With this season also being it’s last, that only helped fuel fan anticipation for the show. I’m not so sure that Westworld has earned that kind of devotion.
Are you still on the train to Westworld?
Since casting information is starting to drop, hopefully, we’ll get an announcement about when production will be starting soon. Who do you think Lena Waithe and Aaron Paul will end up being, real people or Hosts? Are you guys still interested in Westworld? Let us know if you’re still excited about it.
