YouTube sensation Marcel The Shell With Shoes On is headed to the big screen.
The tiny star of the viral internet video by Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp will officially make his feature debut this weekend. So to celebrate, A24 released a new poster. Check it out below:
The poster shows Marcel sitting atop a stack of books, with the text above simply stating “READ.” It looks straight out of your local classroom.
Here’s the official synopsis of the upcoming film from A24:
Marcel is an adorable one-inch-tall shell who ekes out a colorful existence with his grandmother Connie and their pet lint, Alan. Once part of a sprawling community of shells, they now live alone as the sole survivors of a mysterious tragedy. But when a documentary filmmaker discovers them amongst the clutter of his Airbnb, the short film he posts online brings Marcel millions of passionate fans, as well as unprecedented dangers and a new hope at finding his long-lost family. A beloved character gets his big-screen debut in this hilarious and heartwarming story about finding connection in the smallest corners.
The film stars Slate, who reprises her voice role as Marcel the Shell. Thomas Mann and Isabella Rossellini also star. Slate co-wrote the film with Fleischer-Camp, who also directs.
