It’s a good day when Scream gets a new cast member. Dermot Mulroney is the latest to join the sequel to 2021’s Scream sequel. The new film is set to shoot this summer and follows up on the fifth installment. Our friends at The Hollywood Reporter had this casting news. He joins Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, and Hayden Panettiere, who’s returning to reprise her role from Scream 4.
While the plot details are sparce, we do know that the movie “continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.” Mulroney’s role is said to be a cop. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are back as writers with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing again.
Mulroney has had plenty of roles throughout his career including Zodiac, Insidious: Chapter 3, New Girl, Arrested Development, and plenty more.
