Thing returns! The disembodied hand (pet? family member?) of the Addams Family appeared to give an update on Netflix’s Wednesday series today.
The teaser shared by the show’s official social media accounts shows off a new stitched-together look for Thing. The clip promises fans a first look at Wednesday during Netflix’s Geeked Week, running June 6-10. Oh, and the post offers a glimpse back into Wednesday’s dry wit. (It’s captioned “Enjoy this marketing ploy.”)
Wednesday will focus on the named member of the Addams family during her years at Nevermore Academy. Netflix describes the show as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery.” The series will see Wednesday attempt to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Jenna Ortega will take on the lead role of Wednesday Addams. Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones will appear in the series in guest spots as Gomez and Morticia Addams. The show will also feature Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy.
And for fans of The Addams Family movies, don’t worry. Christina Ricci will pop up in the Netflix series too. (Just not as Wednesday Addams.)
Wednesday is executive produced by Tim Burton, with Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar serving as showrunners.
According to today’s Thing teaser, Netflix plans to reveal a first look at the series during its Geeked Week fan event. Geeked Week kicks off Monday, June 6 at 9am PST. Tune in to see more of Wednesday, and until then check back to THS for more updates.
