Have you ever wondered how the darkly violent comedy of Chainsaw Man would look as an anime? Well, Crunchyroll knows, and it betting on a whole lot of people wanting it. Why else would they obtain the rights to it?
A Darkly Hilarious Adventure on Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll has just announced that they have acquired the rights to stream Chainsaw Man on their streaming platform via that official trailer above on YouTube. It seems that for one of its upcoming seasons, Crunchyroll will simulcast this anime in both subtitles with the original Japanese audio and dubbing. The list of dubs available will include English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German.
“With dark humor, dynamic characters and a sharp story, Chainsaw Man is one of the most anticipated new series this year, and we are wickedly excited to bring it to fans on the Crunchyroll service. Anime fans will be up all night thinking about the spectacular visuals and high-octane action.”
Asa Suehira, Chief Content Officer at Crunchyroll
Unfortunately, Crunchyroll has no other info for us about Chainsaw Man today. They don’t even have a release window for the anime besides a vague “later this year” in 2022. Considering that the Summer 2022 anime season is nearly upon us and they don’t mention the anime for that season, it’s pretty unlikely we’ll see it then. The anime is probably going to debut in Fall or Winter 2022. This is just speculation barring official confirmation from Crunchyroll though. Take it with a grain of salt until then.

As for what Chainsaw Man is about? Well, Crunchyroll has a short synopsis for us today just for that that teases the plot, but reveals nothing in particular. Check it out below:
“Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.
One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man”–a man with a devil’s heart.”
