When Top Gun first soared onto screens in 1986, it did so on the wings of an iconic soundtrack. If Tom Cruise was the pilot, “Danger Zone” and “Take My Breath Away” were the wings of his fighter jet.
Now, Cruise and Top Gun are back for a new feature, and we have a new soundtrack hoping to lift the sequel to new heights.
This time, pop superstar Lady Gaga debuts a featured single for the film, “Hold My Hand.” The official music video for the Top Gun: Maverick song dropped today. Check it out below.
The “Hold My Hand” video features epic scenery from the upcoming Top Gun film. It also flashes back to some key scenes from the original movie. (Goose!!) Top Gun: Maverick director Joe Kosinski also directed the Lady Gaga music video.
Paramount Pictures’ Top Gun: Maverick visits Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) after more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators. Maverick is where he belongs –pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.
“Hold My Hand” made its global broadcast premiere earlier today on MTV. It also screened on billboards in Times Square.
