The first season of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 got universally negative reviews, so it’s a bit peculiar that Netflix would decide to make a second season. Especially when Netflix cancels certain other sci-fi shows for just below-average reviews. Oh well, at least this new season of SAC_2045 will probably have good music. How else do you explain Netflix going out of their way to sell the entire soundtrack for season 2 as part of an OST album?

It doesn’t look that bad, but I guess looks aren’t everything.

Netflix is announcing that to commemorate the premiere of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 season 2 on May 23, 2022; they will release an OST album for it a bit after that. Specifically, Netflix will release this OST album on June 22, 2022. This OST album will sell for a retail price of ¥3,080 plus tax, which converts to $23.99 USD at the time of this writing. At $24 for a music album, it seems more than a bit pricey for me. Still, if you like the music for this anime, then go ahead. It’s your money.

As for how you can purchase the OST album for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 season 2 if you want? Apparently, from June 22, 2022; streaming services like Apple Music, LINE MUSIC, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, AWA, KKBOX, Rakuten Music, and TOWER RECORDS MUSIC will sell this album. Or alternatively, you can download it from major download sites like iTunes Store, RecoChoku, and more. Unfortunately, none of these sites actually have it listed at the time of this writing. Tune in later on the release date to find those listings.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Season 2 OST Album ~ Details

Kazuma Jinnouchi and Nobuko Toda.
The 2 artists responsible for delivering this incredible music, but unfortunately for a mediocre anime.

So what’s actually in the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 season 2 OST album? Well, as the name suggests, it contains the entire list of BGM for season 2 by Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi, a “composer duo based in Tokyo and Los Angeles who have created scores for numerous films, video games, and anime using a combination of elements from orchestral, acoustic, and electronic genres”. In case you’re wondering: the 2 of them were responsible for the music of the Metal Gear series of games, so there’s quite a bit of pedigree for them in the music business.

In addition to the BGM though, the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 season 2 OST album also contains 3 insert songs: “Don’t Break Me Down” by Scott Matthew, “Find Me” by Caroline Lufkin, and “2+2=n” by Emi Evans. If you really like their songs, or Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi’s work, then check out the OST album on June 22, 2022. It might be the sole redeeming trait of season 2 if it follows season 1. As for season 1, it’s still on Netflix if you want to check it out for yourself. Just don’t expect anything amazing, or even particularly good.
