Since his introduction in the Knights of the Old Republic video games, Darth Revan has been and remains one of the most popular Star Wars characters ever. The former Jedi-turned-Sith’s popularity resulted in the character making his way into multiple novels and other Star Wars works over the years. Unfortunately, the powerful Sith lord was relegated to “Legends” status when Disney removed the Expanded Universe from official canon. However, the beloved character has slowly been making a comeback. Recent events suggest his full return to canon is inevitable.

Revan

Back in November we told you about all the subtle ways Lucasfilm was already beginning to re-establish Revan in canon. From references in Star Wars Rebels to The Last Jedi, Revan’s existence in canon is clear, even though the character hasn’t been mentioned by name. Recent news, however, has seemingly opened the door widely for Revan to re-enter canon in spectacular fashion. Game of Thrones showrunners Benioff and Weiss are rumored to be focusing their new Star Wars trilogy on the Old Republic. It will be hard to tell Old Republic tales without including the fabled Jedi/Sith Master.

More Evidence Darth Revan Returning to Canon?

Perhaps these things are happy coincidences, and Revan’s return is just wishful thinking. However, references to the character continue to permeate the franchise. Further case in point: the Galaxy of Heroes mobile Star Wars game. Back in October, to commemorate the 15-year anniversary of Knights of the Old Republic, EA’s Capital Games reintroduced Jedi Knight Revan into gameplay. Now, Darth Revan joins his Light Side self in the game, as well. You can learn about how that came to be in the video below:

It would seem strange for the franchise to reference him in the last feature film, focus so heavily on the Old Republic, and now feature Darth Revan prominently in a game, if he isn’t returning to canon. For as much maligned as the franchise has become because of The Last Jedi, it seems that it may very well be headed in the right direction with the Old Republic. Time will tell.
