Remedy Entertainment, the creators of Max Payne, is back with a remake of the first two games. They’re teaming with Rockstar Games to remake Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC as a single title. The two companies came together to make the first games and changed the way third-person action games were played and made. It combined a neo-noir atmosphere with the “bullet time” mechanic that was often imitated, but never really bested.
Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games had this to say:
We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games. We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can’t wait to paly these new versions.
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala had this to say:
Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same. We’re hugely ecited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action, and atmosphere of the orignal Max Payne games back to players in new ways.
The games will use the proprietary Northlight game engine with a budget in-line with a AAA Remedy game production. The project has no release date and is in the concept development stage.
