Are any Cyberpunk 2077 fans here eager to watch the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime adaptation? Well, Netflix is here with an official synopsis to amp up the hype. Check it out below:
A Cyberpunk on the Edge?
Netflix has just released an official synopsis for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on their Netflix Geeked Twitter account. As you might expect from a synopsis, it gives us a teaser about the story for this upcoming anime series. For redundancy (and just in case of technical problems), here are the exact words of the synopsis from Netflix Geeked on Twitter:
“CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS is an animated series from @CDPROJEKTRED + @trigger_inc that follows a street kid trying to survive in a tech and body mod-obsessed city of the future. With everything to lose, he chooses to become an edgerunner, a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”
It’s not much, but it’s the most we got on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners so far in terms of story. What we got though is pretty interesting. Judging by the fact that the main character is specifically a “street kid”, it seems to suggest that he has either minimal or nonexistent cybernetics installed in him. In a city where virtually everyone has some amount of implants in them, that could make this “street kid” pretty unique. Without cybernetics, it’s possible that he could evade sensors that specifically look for them. We’ll have to see how Trigger works this out once we get to see it through, but all in all, it looks pretty promising.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ~ Details
Here’s what we know so far about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The animation studio is, as I mentioned multiple times before, Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, Darling in the Franxx). The studio is known for its rather insane animation style combined with high-octane action. With that in mind, we can probably expect Edgerunners to be in a similar style.
The only release date we have for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is sometime this year in 2022. They don’t specify exactly when this year, however. That’s something we’ll have to wait for either Netflix, CD Projekt Red, or Studio Trigger to give us later. Mostly the first, as the anime will be a Netflix exclusive. Check in with us later for the release date when we finally get it.
