Disappointing news from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa is out with an injury.
The former-DIY shocked the WWE Universe by deating the RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival in their main roster debut. They then headed to Smackdown LIVE to take on The Bar, and defeated them as well. The injury took place during a spot that saw Sheamus land awkwardly on Ciampa’s knee. The referee threw up the X (signaling to production in the back that a wrestler is legitimately hurt), but Ciampa worked the rest of the match.
Johnny Gargano was set to take on Cesaro one-on-one this past week. A match that would have seen Ciampa at ringside. That match was scratched, and it looks that Ciampa has not been scheduled for any events next week.
On last night’s NXT, we saw DIY make it’s official return by entering into the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. It seems that Ciampa and Gargano are finally on the same page. If you’ve read up on the spoilers for the next couple of weeks, you know why WWE is taking every precaution with the Tommaso Ciampa injury.
Ciampa has reportedly been working through the pain. While the severity of his injury is unknown, it was reported that “he’s not okay.” Hopefully this injury is not as serious as it mysteriously seems, and Ciampa can return soon.
