The upcoming HBO Game Of Thrones prequel series has finally revealed its full cast and has announced that S.J. Clarkson will direct the pilot.
S.J. Clarkson is a British director whose most recent credits include BBC/Netflix’s Collateral, Orange Is The New Black, and the Jessica Jones pilot. It was also announced last year that she would be helming Star Trek 4, becoming the franchise’s first female director. However, it looks like that film’s many production issues has left Star Trek 4 in limbo which gives Clarkson enough space in her schedule to take on this project.
Clarkson will be directing a large cast that has a few familiar faces but is mostly comprised of a bunch of young up-and-comers.
We announced in a previous THS Exclusive that Sheila Atim, Denise Gough, and Georgie Henley would be joining Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse but the cast will be rounded out by Naomi Ackie (Star Wars: Episode IX), Jamie Campbell Bower (The Twilight Saga), Ivan Jeremiah (Black Mirror), Alex Sharp (The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time), and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
Nothing more about the characters or the series has been revealed other than the show’s logline: “Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
No premiere date has been announced but if the show is greenlit then the series will most likely debut on HBO in 2020.
