According to an article over at PWInsider.com, European heavyweight WALTER has signed with the WWE. This is huge news for the NXT:UK brand.
If you’re not familiar with WALTER, firstly you should get with the program. This man is the definition of heavy hitter. Making his name in Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling promotion, the leader of Ringkampf has taken the wrestling world by storm as of late. He is a former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Champion, and is the current PROGRESS World Champion. He has some of the hardest chops I’ve ever heard in my entire life, and everything he does looks brutal(in a very good way).
According to the article linked above WALTER will be finishing up his independent dates, and will be a big part of the European expansion of NXT.
This is a great signing overall for the WWE. They get a top class heavyweight, and a trainer as well (is currently the head trainer in German for the previously mentioned wXw promotion). Part of me wishes this was an NXT signing, because it would be great to see more of WALTER touring the United States. It would also be great for him to team with his former Ringkampf team member Axel Dieter Jr., who is currently in NXT as Marcel Barthel. Imagine that team in a future Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Either way, be on the lookout for this huge signing in the near future on the WWE Network.
