The God of Mischief and the TVA have new overlords. Marvel has tapped Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead to direct Loki season 2.
Deadline reports the pair will co-direct the majority of episodes in the Disney+ series’ second season. While plot details about Loki season 2 have yet to be revealed, it’s still a significant move forward for Marvel; other Marvel series like WandaVision and Falcon and Winter Soldier only had a limited-series run.
Benson and Moorhead have recently worked on impressive genre projects at other streamers. Their credits include The Twilight Zone on CBS All Access (now Paramount+) and Archive 81 on Netflix. They will actually make their debut in the MCU even earlier than Loki season 2, directing episodes of Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series. Evidently, the direction on that show impressed Marvel enough to tap the team in for even more work.
Currently, Tom Hiddleston is the only cast member from Loki’s first season confirmed to return in further episodes. Hiddleston executive produces the series along with showrunner Michael Waldron. Eric Martin will write all six episodes of season 2.
For now, we don’t have any more details about Loki season 2. But fans can get a look at Benson and Moorhead’s directing style soon, when Moon Knight premieres.
