As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand with new characters and multiverse stories, plenty of fans are wondering… when are we getting Ghost Rider back?
And equally importantly… who’s going to play him?
It’s been an especially buzzy topic as of late. The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus went around liking a bunch of tweets recently that fan cast him as Johnny Blaze. (Reedus has been a popular fan cast choice for the character for years, but his sudden interest in tweets like that grabbed people’s attention.)
But now another actor has staked a bit of a claim on Ghost Rider – one who’s already played the character before.
Gabriel Luna, who played the Robbie Reyes iteration of Ghost Rider on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, added fuel to the proverbial Twitter fire today. The actor retweeted a post requesting his return to the role, and added the hashtag “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”
So, certainly not a confirmation that Luna will reprise his role in the MCU. But, it does confirm he wouldn’t outright shut the door if Marvel came knocking. And based on Reedus’ (admittedly more vague) online activity, it looks like he could be interested in playing Ghost Rider as well.
Of course, another actor has already played the character on screen as well. Nicolas Cage starred in two live-action Ghost Rider movies. (These films aren’t considered a part of the “main” MCU canon. But again, now that the multiverse is a thing, anything is possible.)
So, what actor would you want to see play Ghost Rider in the MCU? Are you hoping for a TV show, solo film, or just an appearance in another Marvel property? Let us know in the comments below.
