It’s been a while since any news about the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre has come out. The Fede Alvarez produced movie isn’t a remake; it’s not a reboot. It’s a straight-up sequel to the Tobe Hooper classic. The words “Old Man Leatherface” haven’t been more exciting, so when does it come out?
Entertainment Weekly had the scoop on the first images and the release date on Netflix: February 18th, 2022.
Fede Alvarez had this to say to EW:
It’s basically the same character, who is still alive. Our take on it was this guy probably disappeared after everything he’s done. You know, how do you catch a guy who has a mask? Once he removes the mask and runs away, it’s very easy for him to hide somewhere. This story will pick it up many, many years after the original story. He’s been in hiding for a long, long time, trying to be a good person.
The film stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and Jolyon Coy. David Blue Garcia directed the film from a script by Chris Thomas Devlin.
Here are the images of the cast and Leatherface’s first look.
