Many an actor have donned the Bat Cape over the years, and we’re getting closer to Robert Pattinson’s debut as the Caped Crusader. Which means more and more new reveals about what fans can expect from his movie.

During the recent DC FanDome event, fans got to see a new trailer for the feature. Today, we have another new reveal from Warner Bros: the official synopsis of The Batman.

“The Batman is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.”

The update comes from the Warner Bros. UK website. Though the synopsis doesn’t reveal much more about the plot than we already knew, it does paint a picture of the tone of the movie. This Batman flick promises to be dark and edgy (and probably violent). It also offers more insight into Pattinson’s version of Batman. Calling him “disillusioned and desperate” means we’re not getting a calm and collected hero here.

The Batman comes from director Matt Reeves. In addition to Pattinson, it also stars Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, and Andy Serkis. It premieres in March 2022, so fans still have some time before they can see The Batman on the big screen. For now, you’ll have to settle for watching the trailer again.
