Buzz is back!

Explore the legacy of Space Command through the eyes of the one and only Buzz Lightyear in this new animated feature from Disney/Pixar. The film will tell the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the figure in Toy Story.

Check out your first look at the movie in the trailer below.

Lightyear is a sci-fi action-adventure movie that introduces us to the legendary Space Ranger as we’ve never seen him before. Based on the trailer, the animation for this movie looks really impressive. A thematically-appropriate Bowie soundtrack never hurts, either. (And we’re already spotting some Easter Eggs here, too.)

Chris Evans voices our title hero, a role the actor jumped to take on.

“The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life,” said Evans. “Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”

We don’t get to hear much of Evans as Buzz in the trailer. (Not even a complete catchphrase.) But we know Evans can channel some heroic energy already.

The movie comes from Annie Award-winning director and veteran Pixar animator Angus MacLane. MacLane previously co-directed Finding Dory.

Lightyear releases June 17, 2022.
