One of the most well-known bands—and well-known band breakups—is getting a Disney+ docuseries. This November, you can transport yourself back to 1969 and step into the shoes of The Beatles.
Helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson, Get Back chronicles the songwriting process of The Beatles leading up to the band’s final live performance. The three-part docuseries showcases restored footage recorded in January 1969, never before seen by the public.
Get Back takes fans behind-the-scenes of what it was like to be The Beatles. The series showcases both the friendship between the four musicians and the cracks in their relationships which would ultimately lead the band to break up just a year later. As Get Back peels back the layers of their friendship and working relationship, it also shows us the studio songwriting process and the planning and execution of The Beatles’ final live performance, which took place on the roof of Apple Corps on January 30, 1969.
Surviving band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr produced the docuseries, alongside Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.
The Beatles: Get Back will roll out each part over the course of three days, beginning November 25.
