Halo: Infinite is one of the most anticipated games for the Xbox family of consoles this year. The Xbox Series X/S didn’t really launch with that killer app exclusive game like we thought it would. Before Halo: Infinite could launch last year, it was delayed into 2021. Earlier this year, it was given a launch window of Holiday 2021. Now, have a concrete release date. Halo: Infinite is releasing December 8th, 2021.

They showed off the release date and some news about the game during the Opening Night Presentation of Gamescom.

It’s not all roses for Halo: Infinite though. 343 industries did announce that the game wouldn’t have co-op Campaign or Forge at the launch of the game. That’s a damper on things, but it’s not the end of the world. We’re all really just hoping that Halo: Infinite can launch without any issues, this year. The other issue with this release date is timing though.

Halo Vs. Call of Duty Vs. Battlefield

Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042 will definitely compete with Halo: Infinite for your time this winter. Wouldn’t it be advantageous to get the jump on the other two franchises? Releasing that late in the “Holiday” window seems like a bit of a risky move on their part. Battlefield 2042 comes out October 22nd, 2021. While, Call of Duty: Vanguard releases November 5th, 2021. That means these games have that much more edge on Halo: Infinite to grow a player base and get people interested in their games.

This could all be for naught and the Halo players are just going to play the Halo game. But if you want that mass-market potential, you might want to capitalize on it. Just a thought.

Microsoft could be gambling on Game Pass as well. Halo: Infinite and it’s multiplayer both go up on Game Pass the day of release. So we’ll have to see what the result is when it releases, officially, December 8th, 2021.

New Halo Xbox Series X And Elite Version 2 Controller

Also at the Gamescom Opening Night Live conference, they announced a new Halo-themed Xbox Series X and Xbox Elite Version 2 controller. Both look absolutely beautiful. Both are available for pre-order right now. They both release on November 15th, in celebration of Halo‘s 20th anniversary. You can read more about them and get pre-order information from the Microsoft blog.
