Magic In 2022
We’re finally getting a return to Kamigawa! The Japanese inspired plane is getting a cyberpunk makeover with Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. It arrives the first quarter of 2022.
Streets of New Capenna brings us to a plane near and dear to Elspeth. It’s run by three-color demon crime families and built by angels. This set releases quarter two of 2022.
Dominaria United brings us back to the first ever plane of Magic. It kicks off the 30th anniversary of Magic in the third quarter of 2022.
Finally, The Brother’s War brings us to the first large-scale event in Magic’s history: the feud between Urza and his brother Mishra. Dominaria is the site of this huge battle that launches in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Other Non-Standard Legal Releases In 2022
Unfinity continues the “Un” set fun for Magic. If you’ve never played one of these parody sets, it’s quite the experience. They’re fun, they make fun of the absurdities in Magic and they always contain special basic lands for collectors. Check it out in the second quarter of 2022.
Dungeons & Dragons: Battle For Baldur’s Gate brings us more Commander action from D&D with iconic characters, spells, and more Commander Legends style foil-etched legendary creatures. This new Commander release opens in second quarter of 2022.
Double Masters 2022 follows the footsteps of the successful Double Masters. That first set gave you double the rares in every pack and two foil cards. The concept is back with more powerful reprints and a multicolor focus in third quarter of 2022.
Finally, we have Jumpstart 2022. The first Jumpstart showed us how a new variation on Magic packs could work. This time around we get more Booster Fun card treatment, brand-new cards just for this set, and more for fans to enjoy in fourth quarter of 2022.
Universes Beyond Promises Crossovers
Commander gets a Warhammer 40K themed set of decks available in late 2022. The Space Marines and everyone else in that universe are coming to Commander!
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth is a new set designed for play in Modern and Historic. It arrives in 2023. All the characters you know make an appearance here, so look forward to a litany of Magic products with all these amazing characters and locations from the famous J.R.R. Tolkien novels.
Secret Lair Adds Fortnite And Street Fighter
Fortnite gets two Secret Lair drops in 2022 with special reprints of cards like you’ve never seen them before. If you’re into Fortnite you won’t want to miss this drop.
Street Fighter celebrates it’s 35th anniversary in 2022, so what better way to celebrate than a crossover with Magic. These mechanically unique and brand-new cards release in the next Secret Lair drop. So don’t miss that one.
