Say his name three times and Beetlejuice will appear from the other side of the spirit world. Well for you fellow theatre fans out there, here’s some hopeful news. The Tony-award winning production of Beetlejuice just “might” be coming back for Broadway for next year. Now you maybe aware of the “Whole Dead Thing” but, according to “What’s Up Broadway?” podcast hosts, Ayanna Prescod and Christian Lewis got a tip off. Beetlejuice is aiming to return for March 2022 and has a venue in mind already. Rumors have been going around for a while by the New York Marriott Marquis but nothing has been confirmed.
A Hopeful Return
On the other hand as no official announcement has been made but, fans are hoping it does come back. Previews started back in March and then with the grand debut back in April 2019 at the Winter Garden Theatre. The show faced a controversial end back on March 11th, 2020 due to the pandemic shutdown.

The cast is made up of Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice), Presley Ryan (Lydia Deetz), Kerry Butler (Barbara), Adam Dannheisser (Charles) and more. Eddie Perfect did the music and lyrics and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Choreography by Connor Gallagher and music direction by Kris Kukul. Alex Timbers is the production’s director for the musical’s popular following.
If you know the film by Burton, it’s about a deceased couple who try to haunt a family for overtaking their home. They summon a bio-exorcist ghost named Betelgeuse (or we know as Beetlejuice). Lydia who believes in the supernatural and is strange and unusual, who is coping with her her mother’s death and her neglectful father. You know how the ending goes with everybody shaking their senora with Lydia and the football player ghosts by the staircase.
Conclusion
Meanwhile back here in the United States, it was previously announced for a national tour for Fall 2021. At the time of this publishing, no confirmation has been shared if that tour will happen or not. Also the Halloween season is approaching soon and if it doesn’t happen, as it would be a missed opportunity to deliver some spooky vibes.
For how popular the Burton adaptation as the musical definitely deserves a full on come back and hopefully the pandemic calms down for Spring 2022.
